Hi, my name is Wayne Mortensen and I am a bankruptcy attorney here in Tucson Arizona.
I want to talk to you today about what the current court filing fees are. The current filing fees for a Chapter 13 bankruptcy, $310.00, the actual court filing fee, the fee that is actually for the court that attorney does not receive. The fee is $335.00 for a Chapter 7. He may collect these fees from you, but they have to be paid to the court so you can file.
Now, in most instances, there will be additional fees. For example, your going to have a credit counseling fee or a debtor education fee that is going to be applied both before and after filing. You are also going to have a fee for your attorney. Those are all separate from the filing fee.
It is really important when you go and talk to an attorney, to find out what the filing fees are and to find out if you can if there are any other costs.
Now, in most instances we cannot tell you all of the other costs that may be involved because in many instances that could depend on if you get sued in bankruptcy court, which doesn’t happen a lot. Go and talk to your attorney and make sure you understand all of your fees before filing.
Thank you for watching this video. My name is Wayne Mortensen and I have been practicing bankruptcy law here in Tucson for over 19 years.
